Having spent a little while studying "alternative energy" sources*, I was wondering what folk thought about the whole concept that "they", (big energy companies, oil producers etc) are attempting to suppress the development of "other" energy sources (sometimes called "Zero Point Energy")? - goodness this could be an article of its own!

I've dabbled, as an electronics designer, in these areas and there's a fair bit of interest at some levels, but then as soon as you start proposing research projects you end up with "it can't possibly work". On a similar area, I even suggested that I could fund the research myself, and a director (of a large mainly government research organisation) called me - after discussing the pros and cons, and eventually presenting a rather cast-iron case in its favour, I was eventually confronted with his suggestion that I might find such a course of action severely career limiting.

The least that can be done is to just do it, but publish all the results to anyone that's interested!

Lets see what anyone else has to think about these ideas.

Hi Cliffy,

May I first say welcome to the Conscious Ape forums. Good to have your views and opinions, especially this one actually. I have a healthy interest in most of the topics on this site, including 'Free Energy', but having said that, of all the topics, I have to confess I'm probably less knowledgeable on this one than some of the others.

A couple of points: Firstly, I'd like to know what your take is on Bruce DePalma's free energy generator "HERE...":http://www.consciousape.com/discussion-topics/free-energy/ It certainly seems DePalma faced problems endeavouring to develop his work in the face of the oil industry. Just wondered if you have - or if you know anyone specifically who has - faced similar problems? You mention your encounter with...

...Do you know of any other instances where free energy development is being suppressed?

And secondly, I'd like to take this point up on my radio show next week, try and drum up a bit of a debate on the topic and harvest a few more opinions and perspectives. Never know who might come out of the closet!

Okay, I'll leave it there for now. If you ever feel like writing an article for the website on this subject, by the way, I'd be very interested.
